The SRU/SGA Preschool and Child Care Center is a nationally accredited, state licensed, non-profit center which is owned by the Slippery Rock Student Government Association, Inc. Since the Center is licensed by the Department of Human Services and the Department of Education, and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, all staff members are required to meet strict regulations regarding training and experience.
In addition to a professional staff, the Center provides a rich variety of learning experiences for children. The Center's program is designed to promote the affective, cognitive, communicative, perceptual-motor, physical, and social development of the child. We seek to provide each child with a safe, secure, happy environment and to provide each parent with the knowledge and security that his/her child is being given excellent care.
Morning Drop Off Times: 7:00am, any time between 7:30am and 8:30am.
Afternoon Pick Up Times: 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, and 6:00pm
SRU Shines at NAEYC: Early Childhood Center Takes AI Learning to the National Stage
Dr. Amy Orville, an assistant professor in Slippery Rock University’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Leadership in the College of Education, recently partnered with the SRU's SGA Preschool and Early Childhood Center to showcase innovative early learning practices at the 2025 National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Annual Conference.
Traveling to Orlando, Florida, Dr. Orville and lead preschool teacher, Mrs. Julia Williamson, presented their collaborative work in a session titled “Start Small, Think Big: Introducing AI in Early Education.” The presentation highlighted how SRU’s on-campus Early Childhood Center is thoughtfully integrating artificial intelligence tools to support exploration, creativity, and foundational digital literacy among young learners and to support the instructional staff.
